Alas, after 14 months, started grinding and died. I enjoyed it while it lasted. Mine uses 4 AA batteries, they are placed inconveniently near recepticle and fell out a couple of times into trash.I wish that this trashcan really did have a manual feature. Everytime we walk into the kitchen, it opens up. I thought that there was a manual feature, but it isn't. The closes option to that is that you can touch the button on front to open and close when the power and motion sensors are already on. It is really useless at that point, since the can will already open once you come near it and close shortly afterwards. I've checked and read everything to see if I missed something.The insert piece to wrap the trash bag isn't very helpful unless we just received the wrong piece.love that its touch less but after a month it started acting up sometimes the lid works sometimes it doesn''t. The upside is that whenits almost time too change the bag out the lid wont close so its a heads up to change out the bag soon.also be preppared to have plenty ofbatteries for the lid!Motion detection isn't very sensitive. Sometimes you have to wave multiple times to get it to open. Other times, it randomly opens when nobody is even near it.We like this trash can. The only downfall for us is that are large dog can open the lid easily because the sensor is very sensitive. We're improvised and still use it today!That allows for you to put in an area like a passageway. The secure the bag feature is indispensable I don't have to use bungee cords anymore.This trash can was so marvelous, I bought my parents one!The motion lid only works sporadically. I’ve had others that I liked much better. I would. It but this again.DO NOT PURCHASE THIS!!!!!!Lid only opens part way and if you lift it all the way, then it doesn't close all the way. Light weight, not sturdy, top was a challenge to make fit onto the container. Decided to return it almost as fast as I opened the box, but cant return due to something in Amazon's Return policy.
